E is for...

Welcome Song
Henrietta’s Basket: Exit sign

Song:  Be my echo  (6 syllables x 2)  engine and Elmo,  elves and elevator
Sign Language: Letter E
Flannel Board: Colorful Envelopes
Something’s hiding in an envelope,
Come on, let’s do see.
Open up the red envelope
Look, it’s a bumblebee.

Something’s hiding in an envelope,
Big and round and fat
Open up the yellow envelope
Look, it’s a cat!

Something’s hiding in an envelope,
Can you guess? I can’t!
Open up the purple envelope
Look, it’s an ant!

Something’s hiding in an envelope,
Trying to dance a jig!
Open up the blue envelope
Look, it’s a pig!

Something’s hiding in an envelope,
Feeling rather shy
Open up the orange envelope
Look, it’s a butterfly!

Something’s hiding in an envelope,
It’s a big surprise!
Open up the pink envelope
I can’t believe my eyes!  It’s a…long letter!

Book:  The cow that laid an egg (CUT)

Song: One little elephant went out to play
(Sung to:  Five Little Duck)

One little elephant went out to play
On a bright and sunny day
He had such e-n-o-r-m-o-u-s fun
He called another elephant to come
EL-E-PHANT!

Continue counting up to 5 then say:
No more elephants came
Instead they heard their mommies calling, “Din-ner!”
5 little elephants went home to eat!

Rhyme Time Song

Nursery Rhyme: Humpty Dumpty

Announcements

Book: I’ve got an elephant (GIN)

ABC Chant/Good bye Chant

Enrichment: Puzzles, E-e paper, E dot-to-dot, egg carton sort, puzzles, Humpty Dumpty puzzle from Literacy Centers & Activities for Nursery Rhymes, Volume 1.

This is the order I did storytime on Wednesday.  On Thursday I switched the book order and it actually worked out better, since I've got an elephant is a longer story.
